Jody Thompson is an artist based in Sydney, Eora and a graduate of the Australian National University in Canberra, Kamberri.
Jody’s practice is inspired by the natural world; from the local environment around the North Shore of Sydney, to the diverse landscape of Australia, its flora and fauna. Her lifelong interest in drawing and traditional art has recently led her back to study traditional methods of representation in fine art drawing. The decline of travel in the last few years has led to a turn inwards, and her main focus now is in expressing the human form in life drawing and portraiture, as well as the still life tradition.
A lifelong drawer, Jody primarily works in graphite, charcoal, and digital mediums to explore the beauty of line quality and mark making as an expressive medium through the pencil. Jody's practice also encompasses watercolour, animation, and a fascination with the process of making and developing skills, drives her interest in craft mediums.
